Green Position at the municipal council of December, 16 2024
We were presented with the 2024 rectified budget and the 2025 provisional budget by the mayor. You can read our reflections on these in the statement from the municipal council meeting on December 19, 2024.
Aside from that, several smaller topics were on the agenda for this council meeting, including: a private land consolidation, a work completion account, temporary traffic regulations, and the creation of administrative positions as well as resignations. We would like to highlight the following points:
Sale of Municipal Property
After the municipality replaced an excavator that was over 20 years old, the old excavator was sold to a contractor for €11,500. We agreed with this decision.
Agreement Regarding the Management of the Sports Coordinator
Frisange, Weiler-la-Tour, and Roeser share a sports coordinator as municipalities. This is a great service for both young and old across the three municipalities. However, in 2024, this person worked mainly for Roeser for various reasons. Accordingly, the financial settlement has been adjusted. Since the three municipalities now have over 15,000 residents combined, they will soon be able to hire a second person as a sports coordinator. We supported this decision.
Waiver of Preemption Rights in Crauthem
In this case, the municipality waived its preemption rights on a strip of land that used to be a syndicate path and is now of no use to the municipality. We agreed with this as well.
Financial Support for Associations Active in International and National Humanitarian Aid
The municipality is making a donation of €2,500 each to the associations Pharmaciens sans Frontières and Mitica, aide à l’enfance. The association Lukraine ASBL will receive a donation of €5,000.
Additionally, the associations Ambulanz Wonsch and La Main Tendue ASBL Angela will each receive €1,000.
These are all humanitarian gestures by the municipality to support the poorest of the poor and people in very precarious and distressing situations. We were happy to support these decisions.
