Our Electoral Manifesto

WE’RE BUILDING THE FUTURE

Dear fellow citizens,

On 11 June 2023, you will have the opportunity to shape the future of our community as a voter.

As “déi gréng Roeserbann”, we have critically, but always honestly and constructively, followed the policy of the LSAP-CSV council and are continuously committed to the general interest of the municipality, the residents and the environment. After 12 years of active work in the Local Council, “déi gréng Roeserbann” are ready to take on responsibilities within a coalition.

There are many reasons to vote for “déi gréng” in the elections on 11 June. On the following pages, we present the electoral programme with our proposals, ideas and priorities for the next 6 years, as well as our candidates.

Our team of 13 friendly and competent candidates is highly motivated and brings together experience and knowledge in a wide range of fields.

Attractive and quiet residential streets, building projects that respect the character of the villages, short and safe routes for pedestrians, bicycles and other forms of soft mobility, more public housing with social and affordable rents, good quality of life and housing for young and seniors, attractive meeting places and varied cultural events, local jobs, diversified services and shops, good public transport connections and, above all, less (through) traffic: We want to develop our community according to this vision and, at the same time, significantly strengthen the community’s efforts in the field of environmental protection, renewable energy and climate neutrality! We advocate an open and tolerant society and encourage respectful co-existence between all the residents of our municipality.

We count on your support for dei gréng (List 3) and look forward to working with you towards a more sustainable and socially just future and society.

Nadine BRIX & Dan MICHELS
Co-Chairmen of déi gréng Réiserbann

Preserving the natural basis of life

Preserving the natural basis of life

Intact nature is the basis for all living things. In order to be able to continue to drink clean water, breathe clean air, eat fresh fruit and vegetables for a healthy diet and enjoy a variety of flora and fauna, we need to preserve the environment better. dei gréng will ensure that the municipality of Roeser significantly strengthens its efforts to protect nature, preserve endangered species, clean air, good drinking water and an intact environment: Creation of green belts with…
Affordable housing and green urbanism

Affordable housing and green urbanism

Attractive and quiet residential streets, building projects that preserve the character of the villages, short and safe routes for pedestrians, bicycles and other forms of soft mobility, more public housing at social and affordable rents, a good quality of life and housing for young and senior, attractive meeting places, varied cultural events, local jobs, diversified services and shops and, above all, less traffic: this is the vision that we want to develop in our municipality! When applying for a building…
More mobility without more traffic

More mobility without more traffic

To improve the quality of life in the Réiserbann and preserve it for future generations, we need a more ambitious mobility policy! We need to ease and reduce motorised traffic, so that our children can once again move around the community safely and independently (on foot or by bike), as well as improving soft mobility, bus and train links and connecting our community to the Kockelscheuer/Cloche d’Or tramway. Traffic calming within towns and at village entrances and exits by means…
Climate protection and renewable energy

Climate protection and renewable energy

Faced with the climate crisis, we will not only have to take measures to curb climate change, but also to protect ourselves from its negative effects, such as heat waves and floods. The next 10 years will be crucial for reducing our greenhouse gas emissions, massively developing renewable energy sources and helping as many people as possible to save energy and play an active role in the transition. Drawing up a participatory vision of the municipality’s long-term development (“Realising 2050”)…
Well-being of children, young people and families

Well-being of children, young people and families

Targeted investment measures and a child and youth friendly municipal policy contribute to a more inclusive and well-functioning society. Childcare services must be of high quality, affordable and flexible in terms of opening hours, so that all parents – especially single parents – can reconcile work and family life. The healthy development of our children and young people is essential for the future of our society. Continue to develop the quality and the municipal offer of childcare services and to…
Living well as a senior citizen

Living well as a senior citizen

Organising municipal life in a way that favors senior citizens and enables them to live healthy, safe and active lives for as long as possible and to participate in municipal life. Involving senior citizens in everyday life not only helps to combat social isolation, but also enriches the community life of all generations by making use of the skills and life experience of elderly people. Adapting municipal buildings and infrastructure as well as pavements, pedestrian crossings, footpaths and bus stops…
Living in safety

Living in safety

In Luxembourg, citizens must be able to live in a free, safe, open and democratic society. However, an effective safety policy cannot be based solely on the police. Enhanced preventive measures, extended mandate to the Pécherten (municipal officers) and the development of social services can also prevent violence and crime, improve the feeling of security and contribute to a safe living environment for all residents of our municipality. Regular coordination and exchange with the police on the situation in Roeserbann…
Living together and being a good neighbour

Living together and being a good neighbour

We are committed to an open and diverse society in which everyone has the freedom to develop and live together with others in an atmosphere of respect. Our local authority has the duty to strengthen social cohesion, to provide its residents with targeted advice and support through well-organised services, to promote a dynamic cultural and associatif life and to help strengthen the social ties between the residents of Roeserbann. Active support, street closures (if feasible) and provision of equipment for…
Shops, services and sustainable economy

Shops, services and sustainable economy

We will improve the attractiveness and diversity of local services, shops and gastronomy thanks to town centers with attractive meeting and rest areas, green spaces, traffic-calmed streets, safe pedestrian and cycle paths, sufficient short-term parking spaces and spaces for disabled people, as well as commercial/artisanal premises that the municipality makes available for projects of general and social interest. Renting or buying empty commercial premises as a municipality in order to promote local business, sale of everyday products, regional/local products and…
Citizen participation and modern administration

Citizen participation and modern administration

Citizen participation and modern administration Everyone should be able to participate in the political decisions that affect their lives. In Roeser, however, the record of citizen participation is poor, if one disregards the ‘citizen budget’ launched shortly before the elections on the model of Dudelange. Genuine citizen participation is not about organising information evenings about projects that are almost ready. It must start as early as possible and not only accept but also seek an impact. Dei Gréng are committed…
